Everyone knows that attendance in school everyday can benefit your child with great study habits and a firmer grasp on concepts. Daily attendance is also how schools get funding. If you're unsure as to what is considered an excused/unexcused absence, please read Farmdale's Attendance Policy.
If you've been on campus, you've probably seen the chart of lost revenue due to absences posted near the office. Have you been curious to know exactly what that means? LAUSD spends only so much per pupil per day. When the student is absent, funds are not given to the school. This impacts how much that can be spent on educational resources for our school community. It's something to think about if you're a parent or guardian of a chronically absent child.
A little quiz:
The chart above shows exactly how much money Farmdale Elementary loses each month due to unexcused absences. In the 2012 - 2013 school year, the school lost $110,661. For the 2013 - 2014 school year, the school is losing even more money per month. If this trend continues, Farmdale stands to lose more than $111,000 for the 2013 - 2014 school year.
This doesn't have to happen. Parents and guardians can do their best to ensure that students get to school on time, everyday:
If your child had perfect attendance in the months of August and September, please join us on October 28th, during the morning assembly to see them recognized for their efforts. Hopefully, we'll be able to see all of the Farmdale student body receiving accolades for perfect attendance.
