![]() Looking to become more active at Farmdale in the next school year? Becoming a parent volunteer is one of the best ways to learn what is going on at your student's school and in the classroom. Many parents would like to get involved, but feel they may not have the time or expertise to offer. No worries! Even just a few hours a month is a fantastic way to boost your child's confidence and make new friends. At Farmdale Elementary, there are many chances for parents to help build our community. Joining the PTA is one way many parents help with the school. PTA helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and school administrative duties, including fundraising. You can help with concessions, setting up/tearing down for events or working outside of school events. School Governance, such as School Site Council and the English Learners Advisory Committee are also great ways to get involved in what direction the school takes in funding and education. Each board holds monthly meetings that are open to the public and you can lend your voice. If you're looking for some morning activities, you can offer to help with Breakfast in the Classroom or visit the Parent Center where you can help put together items for the classrooms. Your child's teacher may need help with checking homework, overseeing small groups, field trip parents and other items. Contact the teacher for more information. ![]() As former students we each most likely have at least one teacher to made a difference in our lives. As parents and guardians, we have a unique opportunity to interact with teachers in a different way. It's always wonderful when your child gets so much delight from their teacher and even better when that teacher is always accessible to you and ready to speak with your concerns about your child or even just to tell you how well your child is doing in class. Farmdale is filled with such teachers. Each one is caring not just about out students, but passionately about their chosen profession. This week is Thank a Teacher Week and the Farmdale Parent Groups will be celebrating our teachers and staff who have done so much for the educational well-being of our students. There will be a luncheon on Friday, May 10 and if any parent can donate food to serve, it would be much appreciated by all. Below you can find the forms to print out, complete and send back to your child's teacher. ![]()

![]() This year's Literacy Parade and Carnival were a big hit. The children got a big kick out of seeing the administrative staff dressed as Star Wars characters and the support staff's excellent Space Shuttle costume. Congratulations to all of the students who, once again, showed off their favorite characters and amazing imagination. Thank you to the PTA and parent volunteers for making the Carnival run smoothly. You can view more photos from the Literacy Parade in the gallery. If you have pictures you'd like to submit you can email them to us. |
