Farmdale's Literacy Parade.
Summer is coming up and the ideal time for your child to catch up on all the reading they've wanted to do during the school year. The Los Angeles Public Library is kicking off their 2013 Summer Reading Club on June 3rd.
Students can use the summer to venture into new genres of literature, build their reading skills for the new year and learn about a variety of subjects.

The theme for this year's Summer Reading Club is Delicious Books and the librarians at LAPL have chosen some books along that theme for every grade level. The resources at the Los Angeles Public Library are extensive. On your computer you can read along, with audio books and play games via Bookflix and TumbleBooks. You need an library card to access the pages.
If you have a smartphone, tablet or media device such as an iPod or Kindle, LAPL has partnered with a variety of companies so you can download ebooks or audiobooks to have with you at all times.
For parents and caregivers, the California Department of Education also helps you by offering a suggested reading list based on your child's reading level or grade level.
