DonorsChoose LADonorsChoose has proven to be an excellent way for parents and community members to directly fun classroom projects. On November 14th, Superintendent Deasy announced that the Wasserman Foundation has pledged $4 million to LAUSD schools.
Half of those pledged funds ($2 million) will be used for projects specified by the District, but the remaining $2 million will go directly to parents in the form of 600,000 gift cards of a $15 value. If you receive one, you can apply those funds directly to projects posted on the DonorsChoose site by your child's teacher. In January 2012, Starbucks customers at Los Angeles-based shops will receive a gift card, allowing them to apply funds to projects in LAUSD schools. Be sure to tell your friends and family what project needs funding most. You can learn more by visiting the DonorsChooseLA site. |
